Applications open!

Looking to take your songwriting career further? The biennial APRA Professional Development Awards exist to provide support to emerging songwriters and composers.

Nine awards will be given out, with each recipient receiving a game-changing $15,000 cash prize to support their development. It is expected that the funds will help recipients attend workshops, music education courses, composer seminars, co-writing sessions and other relevant activities - locally or internationally.

Winners will also receive M50x Studio Headphones Limited Edition Red courtesy of Audio Technica and ‘Aon Wallet’ insurance package including Public Liability, Equipment and Personal Accident cover valued at $3,000 over 3 years courtesy of Aon (subject to terms and conditions).

Applications are open across seven categories:

1. Popular Contemporary (three awards are given in this category including Pop, Rock, Blues, Folk, Hip Hop and R&B);

2. Country;

3. Jazz;

4. Art Music;

5. Dance/Electronic;

6. Film and Television;

7. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.

Once again in 2019, the Smugglers of Light initiative will form part of the PDAs. Now in its third year, this Award will provide a promising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music or media practitioner a grant of $12,000.
