SA - Making a Musician Workshop

APRA AMCOS and Music SA present 'Making A Musician Workshop', free workshops & events for professional development in the music industry. This workshop will navigate the ins and outs of contractual agreements. It may seem like a boring topic but just wait until you hear the tales the panel have on what can go wrong when you jump into bed with a stranger without fully understanding the terms of the agreement.

We will run through some basic contractual terminology, discuss the importance of negotiation and dissect some standard recording and publishing contracts as an example of what to look out for. We will also discuss when to engage a lawyer (always) and where to find one that understands music industry standards. Registrations are essential!

Facilitator:
Craig McKay, Music SA

Panellists:
David Vodka, Media Arts Lawyers
Betty Kontoleon, Author – ‘Music and the law’
Alex Karatgssa, 5/4 Entertainment
Matt Swayne, Brillig / APRA AMCOS
