QLD - Songwriter Speaks with Hannah Macklin & Ash Kerley

APRA AMCOS invites you to our next Songwriter Speaks event at Brisbane Powerhouse in New Farm. 

Take a journey through song craft with award winning songwriters Hannah Macklin (MKO Sun) and Ash Kerley (Marville), the latest recipients of the prestigious Grant McLennan Fellowship and Billy Thorpe Scholarship respectively. APRA AMCOS' Kellie Lloyd leads a discussion on what it takes to write music that inspires, connects and endures; interspersed with live performances by Hannah and Ash. 

This event is co-presented with Brisbane Powerhouse's 'Mixtape' series.

A biennial feature on the Newcastle music calendar, The Newkulele Festival offers a fantastic weekend celebrating the sounds of the ukulele. This unique event is open to all the family and suitable for any age group, and has a special appeal for music lovers.

The Festival features international acts and players from across Australia covering a wide range of music styles and accompanying instruments. Come along for two days and nights to feast on the diversity of sounds created around the beautiful, humble ukulele. The festival offers three stages of FREE music, markets, open mic opportunities, a cafe and bar, as well as showcasing two fabulous ticketed evening concerts, and workshops -  all inside Newcastle City Hall.

The Access Arts Achievement Award provides up to $10,000 in funding for Queensland artists, arts workers and producers with disability working in any art form to create, develop, present, produce, exhibit and/or tour their work.

This is the fifth and final year (2018) of the $10,000 Award. The Award is made possible by a generous donation from Access Arts Life Member, singer-song-writer Peter Vance.
Projects may start from 1 January 2019 and must be completed within 12 months or an alternative timeline approved by Access Arts.
Applications will be assessed based on the project’s artistic and/or cultural merit and innovation, opportunity for professional development and project viability.
