Starting Ground music workshop is coming to WA for the first time!
Aboriginal songwriters and music makers are invited to the free two-day workshop

Whether you are just beginning to write songs or already playing gigs, you are encouraged to join your fellow music makers from the Kalgoorlie and beyond to learn more about songwriting, collaboration and how to connect with the music industry.

APRA AMCOSWAM and Tjuma Pulka Aboriginal Media Corporation are coordinating Starting Ground - Kalgoorlie. The program has been operating in NSW since 2015, with help from mentors like Leah Flanagan and Radical Son.

Starting Ground will explore many facets of being a musician:

  • Songwriting
  • Music production
  • Artist management
  • Booking gigs/performing
  • Touring
  • Copyright
  • Marketing and promotion

In Kalgoorlie, workshops will be led by producer Drew Goddard (Karnivool), songwriters Candice Lorrae (The Merindas) and Bradley Hall, artist manager Hayley Ayres, and Nigel Bird from WAM.

APRA AMCOS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander National Representative Michael Hutchings will be onground to facilitate the sessions. Spread the word, bring a friend!
