Adam Gock and Dinesh Wicks to receive International Achievement Award. Presenters and Performances Announced!

Australian composing duo ADAM GOCK and DINESH WICKS (The D.A’s Office) will receive the INTERNATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD at the 2014 Screen Music Awards on Wednesday 12 November. The event, which will take place at City Recital Hall in Sydney, holds a unique place on the entertainment calendar, being the only ceremony to recognise the achievements of Australian screen composers.

Since 2006 the Gock / Wicks partnership has seen them compose music scores for some of Australia’s most popular television programs including Sea Patrol, The Apprentice, Beauty And the Geek, The Biggest Loser, Dating in the Dark, Celebrity Apprentice and Farmer Wants a Wife along with the music for documentaries screened on the National Geographic and Discovery Channels’. In 2009 The DA’s Office composed the music for the hit cooking show Masterchef, which became an international sensation and their music has appeared on the program in 65 different countries including the USA and UK versions.

In 2012 The DA’s Office set up office in Los Angeles, and in 2013 they expanded, opening their New York studios. Since their arrival in the United States their team (who are all APRA AMCOS members) have won a combined seven ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) awards. Their international commissions include music for; The Biggest Loser UK, Masterchef (internationally 65 countries), The Face USA, Sesame Street, One Born Every Minute USA, Tabitha’s Salon Takeover, Forage Wars, The Big Deal, Animal Swat, National Geographic’s Megafactories and many more.

APRA AMCOS CEO Brett Cottle today said, “It is a phenomenal effort by Adam and Dinesh over the last few years. Their work forms part of the world’s most popular television productions and they are providing opportunities for many Australian composers in the US market. It is highly appropriate we honour their achievements at this year’s Screen Music Awards.”

The screen composer’s night of nights will feature host Rob Carlton along with presenters and performers which include actor Jessica Tovey who most recently appeared in feature films Wonderland, Tracks and the Screen Music Awards nominated picture Adoration. Jon Stevens, one of Australia’s most respected performers, will appear on stage as a presenter for the Screen Music Awards. Theatre and film actor Leeanna Walsman whose credits include a part in Star Wars Episode II and most recently a role in the Wentworth series will also join the presenter’s line-up for 2014. Actor Sophie Lowe, another star of the film Adoration will present as will actor Jeremy Lindsay Taylor. His recent work in television includes Bikie Wars: Brothers In Arms, as Martin Vickers on Puberty Blues and in the Screen Music Award nominated Serangoon Road.

Musical performances on the night will be courtesy of the fabulous Clairy Browne & The Bangin' Rackettes and Lance Ferguson from soul / funk band The Bamboos. Award winning screen composer Ashley Irwin, will again take on Musical Director duties and with his orchestra perform excerpts from the scores nominated for the Feature Film Score of the Year category.
