APRA AMCOS ramps up its presence in the USA
Australasian songwriters and composers are currently making a splash on the global stage, and we’re here to help amplify that impact for our members.
If you’re living in the USA, considering relocating, or even just passing through on tour, you’ll now have direct access to our Director Member Relations, Milly Petriella (pictured), who will be on the ground in Los Angeles to provide support to APRA AMCOS members and establish a new music industry association.
Australians in Music will be set-up in LA and Nashville alongside well-established organisation Australians in Film, which celebrates and supports Australian filmmakers and performers in the USA. This new organisation will unite the broader Australian music industry in the USA, and actively promote and support business and talent development.
“Australasian creators are experiencing tremendous success in overseas markets, and in the last financial year we processed and paid out more than $40m in international royalties to our members,” says APRA AMCOS Chief Executive Brett Cottle.
“APRA AMCOS has long recognised the importance of international markets to our members, and demonstrated its commitment to offering support across the globe by installing representatives in London, LA and Nashville.
“Milly will be the first senior executive to be based in the USA, and will be working to create new opportunities for our members."
"It’s an exciting time for Australasian music, and APRA AMCOS is continuing to open up access to the world market for music creators.” - Brett Cottle
Milly, who runs multiple programs for APRA AMCOS including the Ambassador and SongHubs programs, will continue in her current role, but will be working to increase access and opportunities for members in the USA.
Along with launching Australians in Music, Milly will establish co-writing rooms, hot desks and studios for use by APRA AMCOS members and develop the presence and representation of Australasian songwriters and composers in the USA.
“We have amazing talent in Australia and New Zealand, and that’s becoming increasingly obvious in markets like the USA. I can’t wait to start helping our members further their careers and develop their talent,” says Milly.
“I’m also thrilled to be setting up Australians in Music which will facilitate deeper engagement with the USA for the wider Australian music industry.”
