50 Songs in 5 Days and SongHubs come together
What do you get when you bring together more than 75 of Australia’s best songwriters and producers, throw in a handful of accomplished international guests, and lock them away in Sydney's Studios 301 for five days to write?
We'll soon find out, when 50 Songs in 5 Days returns for its fifth year. This time around, the massive songwriting event falls under the banner of our very own SongHubs program. Originally founded and curated by Specific Music’s Leonie and Robert Conley, 50 Songs will see music creators come together from 12 to 16 December.
“50 Songs was born from a conversation with Robert Conley at the SongHubs sponsored Bali Songwriting Camp in 2010, and over the last five years has produced some amazing outcomes,” says Milly Petriella, APRA AMCOS Director of Member Relations.
“From that initial idea we went on to sponsor and then partner with Specific Music and we are thrilled to now be able to bring the event into the SongHubs calendar of events.
“The opportunities these camps provide are priceless. In the last six months alone we have seen SongHubs releases from Guy Sebastian (Set In Stone, Candle), SAFIA (Over You), Tkay Maidza (Carry On) and Client Liaison (Off White Limousine). We are hugely proud to partner with Leonie and Robert to help fuel the next crop of Australian talent.”
Previous participants in 50 Songs in 5 Days have included Jessica Mauboy, Briggs, Trials, Thelma Plum, Alex Hope, M-Phazes, Louis Schoorl, Jon Hume, Julian Hamilton, Lisa Mitchell, Tina Arena, Kate Miller-Heidke, Pip Norman and The McClymonts to name just a few.
