APRA AMCOS was saddened to learn of the passing of Brisbane music writer and historian Ritchie Yorke. Ritchie had an exceptional career in broadcasting and journalism across Australia, Canada and the UK which included long stints with Billboard, Rolling Stone and the Sunday Mail. He wrote books about Led Zeppelin, Van Morrison and John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and played a key role in Lennon’s peace envoy in the late 60s.

APRA AMCOS Chief Executive Brett Cottle expressed his sympathies at the loss of the legendary writer:

“Ritchie was a towering and unsung figure in the global music community. He will be sadly missed.”

Ritchie passed away at the age of 73 on February 6, 2017.
