APRA AMCOS members dominate the triple j Hottest 100

Friday, 27 Jan 2017

Australian and New Zealand songwriters have had a massive impact on triple j’s Hottest 100 this year, with 115 APRA AMCOS members writing or co-writing songs that made the cut.

Of the 100 songs, 66 were performed by Australians – the most ever in the annual countdown. APRA Song of the Year top 20 nominees also fared well, with five appearing in the top 10: Never Be Like You (Flume), Adore (Amy Shark), Jungle (Tash Sultana), 1955 (Hilltop Hoods ft. Montaigne) and Say It (Flume). Overall, nine of the APRA Song of the Year top 20 contenders make an appearance.

SAFIA’s track Over You, written at an APRA AMCOS SongHubs writing camp in the UK, was one of three songs the Canberra trio had in the countdown.

To highlight this achievement, we’ve put together a Spotify playlist featuring all the Hottest 100 songs written by APRA AMCOS members (with the exception of any triple j Like A Version recordings). Congratulations to our members who made the list!
