Charlotte Abroms wins 2017 Lighthouse Award

Friday, 26 May 2017

Established in the memory of Linda Gebar, The Lighthouse Award grants $5000 to support the professional development of a female manager or self-managed artist based in Victoria. Previous recipients include Jen Cloher, Bonnie Dalton and Bernadette Ryan.

Adding to this stellar list, APRA AMCOS is proud to announce The Lighthouse Award 2017 recipient is Charlotte Abroms, a Melbourne based music manager who guides the careers of Haarlo, Ainslie Wills and Gretta Ray. With a background in digital strategy and content production, Charlotte commenced her career in a voluntary capacity, co-founding Large Noises – a music blog dedicated to filming high quality live performance videos with a focus on emerging Australian artists. Driven by passion, belief and commitment, Charlotte has evolved a voluntary role in the music community into a full time professional artist management role.

Currently in the UK, representing Ainslie Wills at The Great Escape, Charlotte said

“Thanks so much to the team at APRA AMCOS, this is such a huge benefit to my career and I’ll be forever grateful for this award getting me through to the next phase of my management career.”

The Lighthouse Award represents APRA AMCOS’ commitment to addressing the gender imbalance within the music industry and encouraging women to pursue a career in music. Linda Gebar died tragically in 2008. She was one of the few female managers in the 90s, and worked with The Killjoys, Frente and The Blackeyed Susans. A passionate believer in local music, Linda was a mentor and colleague to many. The Lighthouse Award exists to continue the work of Linda Gebar, and support a forward-thinking female manager who is dedicated to Australian music.

"It was incredible to see such a depth and breadth in applicants for the award this year. Culturally and musically we were proud to see such diversity" said Cath Haridy, artist manager and a Lighthouse Award judge.

APRA AMCOS congratulates Charlotte Abroms on this achievement.
