Tuesday, 21 Nov 2017

We are excited to announce The Preatures' Isabella Manfredi as the newest APRA AMCOS Ambassador. A singing-songwriting-performing powerhouse, the APRA and ARIA Award nominated frontwoman won first place in the 2013 Vanda & Young Competition for Is this how you feel?a song that also landed in the top 10 of the triple j Hottest 100 that year.

While touring in support of the band's acclaimed second album Girlhood, Izzi very kindly answered 10 quick questions.

My favourite place to think and write is:

Riding my bike around town - preferably the flat bits.

The song that I wish I had written is:

Younger Now by Miley Cyrus. I love Miley.

One thing I absolutely need for my job is:

Time.

If I wasn’t a songwriter, I would be…

Acting on the stage, or a high school English teacher.

Winning Vanda & Young was meaningful to me because…

It changed our lives as a young band. We used the money to do CMJ in the States and never looked back.

Moment when I felt like I was on the right musical path…

I'm still waiting. Give me a sign!

The future for songwriters is exciting because…

The song as we know it has been deconstructed.

The biggest challenge facing songwriters is…

Laid-back listens and the ever increasing corporatisation of music.

I am an APRA AMCOS Ambassador because…

They champion the writer.

A few words of wisdom for young women wanting to be a songwriter or producer:

Be as self-sufficient as you can and keep coming back to the craft.
