Thursday, 09 Nov 2017

D.D Dumbo took home Song of the Year Honors for Satan at the 2017 APRA Music Awards

What song in 2017 stopped you in your tracks? What lyrics did you listen to and wished that you'd written?

'Tis the season for APRA AMCOS members to listen back to the year's earworms, choons, bangers and ballads and cast a vote for the APRA Song of the Year, an honour that truly rewards the 'songwriter's songwriter'. The SOTY vote is an opportunity to recognise the valuable work of your songwriting peers, and by casting your ballot you are automatically entered in to the draw for an excellent suite of prizes valued at approxmately $6,000

•             Studios 301 Recording package with engineer

•             Headphones & Pro Audio Package

•             $1000 travel voucher

•             Tickets to the 2018 APRA Music Awards

•             $1000 Levi’s® retail voucher

Voting for SOTY closes at 5pm (AEDT) Friday, 15 December, 2017. Votes will be tallied and a shortlist of songs will be announced in January 2018.

A specialist voting academy of previous Song of the Year nominees will then vote for the APRA Song of the Year, with the winner being announced at the 2018 APRA Music Awards.

You need to be an APRA AMCOS member currently living in Australia to vote. Or you can be an APRA AMCOS member living overseas with Australian citizenship. Songs written principally by an Australian or a New Zealand writer(s) living in Australia are eligible. You only get one vote, so use it wisely!

The APRA Song of the Year dates back to 1991, when Yothu Yindi's landmark Treaty received the inaugural award. Have a listen to the complete SOTY winners' playlist.

Log in to the Writer or Publisher Portal to vote, and have your say by Friday 15 December, 2017.
