Rockin' the Puburbs powers through to top 10 finalists

Wednesday, 11 Oct 2017

From a very impressive pool of nearly 300 entries, ten live acts hailing from all corners of New South Wales have made the final cut for the inaugural Rockin' The Puburbs competition. The winner will be named on Wednesday 8 November and will receive a prize pack valued at $15,000.

The Australian Hotels Association NSW, in partnership with APRA AMCOS and the Live Music Office, opened up the competition in June inviting NSW-based original live acts – whether a band, duo or solo artist – to enter for the opportunity to win a headline tour of leading NSW pubs, a dedicated tour publicist, and mentorship from APRA AMCOS Ambassador Mark Lizotte (Diesel) and the team from the Live Music Office. To kick-start the summer tour, the winner will first perform at the AHA NSW Awards for Excellence on Tuesday 21 November in front of more than 1,000 people.

AHA NSW CEO John Whelan said the organisation was pleased with the success of the competition.

“Many national and international music acts first got their start down at the local, and the goal of Rockin’ the Puburbs is to find top local talent and help them establish themselves in the industry,” he said. "This new initiative continues the hotel industry’s long and proud history of support for live music acts. We are pleased at the great response, and thrilled at the quality of the finalists.”
