Australian Law Reform Commission - Copyright and the Digital Economy

APRA AMCOS made formal submissions to the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) in relation to its Inquiry into Copyright and the Digital Economy. APRA AMCOS’ CEO and Senior Management have also participated in numerous consultation meetings with the Commissioner and staff appointed to the Inquiry.

The ALRC's Discussion Papers proposed that a 'fair use' exemption be introduced to the Copyright Act and that statutory licences be abolished. APRA AMCOS, the Copyright Council and Music Rights Australia strongly objected to these proposals due to the negative effect this would have on copyright owners. Read the submissions below.
