2014 National Songwriter Postcode Rankings

In its second Annual Songwriter Postcode Rankings, the country’s largest and oldest copyright collecting society, APRA AMCOS, identifies those suburbs compelling songwriters to set up home: from Sydney’s Darlinghurst to Queensland’s Darling Downs.

With over 87,000 members APRA AMCOS has been able to capture a fascinating snapshot of where our members live and the postcodes with the highest amount of songwriter members.

Rankings are based on the number of earning APRA AMCOS songwriters by postcode, covering the following areas: top 30 national songwriting postcodes, top 20 fastest growing postcodes, top ten national postcodes by musical genre, top ten postcodes by State and overall State growth rankings.

Andrew Harris, Principal Analyst at APRA AMCOS said, “Although Melbourne’s Inner North suburbs of Brunswick and Northcote have dominated the rankings again this year, Footscray’s nation-leading growth over the last year suggests Melbourne’s west is firmly establishing itself as a key national music hub.”
