ABOUT the art music awards

The 2020 Art Music Awards will be held virtually, on APRA AMCOS's Youtube channel.

The Art Music Awards are presented each year by the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) and the Australian Music Centre (AMC) to recognise achievement in the composition, performance, education and presentation of Australian music. Art music covers activity across contemporary classical music, contemporary jazz and improvised music, experimental music and sound art.

The Art Music Awards consist of thirteen national awards and various State Awards across categories covering composition, performance, and outstanding contributions by individuals and organisations in Australian music, in music education, experimental music, jazz and regional music.

National Awards

Thirteen national Art Music Awards are open for nominations from members of the Australian Music Centre and APRA, as well as industry organisations and companies such as educational institutions, broadcasters, retail outlets, recording studios and promoters. An additional category is awarded at the discretion of the Board of Directors of APRA for Distinguished Services to Australian Music.

For each State or Territory, one Luminary Award will be given to honour individuals or organisations who, through sustained contribution (over 3 - 5 years prior), have impacted our community on a State/Territory level.
