“The Mushroom Music Publishing Recording Grant has concluded for a third year with Melbourne super group Dorsal Fins comprising of Saskwatch’s Liam Gorry, Eagle & The Worms’ Jarrad Brown and solo artist Ella Thompson for their incredible sound. The grant will enable the band to enjoy financial benefits to help record their second LP. 

Writers’ Bloc is back! MMP writers will be coming together in late September at the legendary studios of Bakehouse in Richmond, Victoria for a week’s session of collaborations.

Local artists currently dominating overseas on tour include DMA’s, Fraser A Gorman and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

In international news, USA’s InGrooves Music Group joins the fold, London based A&G Songs Publishing and UK/EU based EPM Music have finalised a deal seeing MMP represent all catalogues in ANZ territories.

The Rubens

In sync news, we celebrate Sydney band The Rubens who will be featured for three months on the new Foxtel show The Player promo with their new single ‘Hallelujah’ from the highly anticipated second LP Hoops.

Oscar Dawson


Native Tongue is excited to announce the signing of Melbourne composer, songwriter and producer Oscar Dawson, who has recently been working with Holy Holy and Ali Barter. 

The Getaway Plan’s third album Dark Horses entered the ARIA Albums Chart at #10. It's the band’s highest debut and their first entry into the top ten. The band is touring nationally this September.

Melbourne soulful electronic act Kid Radio has released their self titled debut album. The band will embark on a national tour throughout August and September.

Native Tongue would like to congratulate New Zealand writers Marlon Williams, Mel Parsons, Mulholland and Anthonie Tonnon on making the final 20 for the APRA Silver Scroll Award.

On the sync front, there have been placements for High Highs (Google), Bonnie McKee (The Hot Plate Promo) and Electric Guest (NIB Health Insurance).


ORiGiN Music Publishing is proud to announce the additions of the following to its roster:

Charlie McGee aka Charlie Jones releases his odes to permaculture as part of the Formidable Vegetable Sound System. The first album ‘Permaculture: A Rhymers Manual’ was released in 2013. The ‘remixed and revegetated’ album Rad Ish Beets is just out. Charlie is now working on a children’s album in collaboration with producer/musician Michael Barker and Spoonbill (who also contributed to the remixes).

Berlin based composer/DJ Rick Bull aka Deepchild has signed with ORiGiN. While prolific as a composer, Rick also continues to tour the world DJ’ing with recent shows from Bombay to Berghain, Sydney to Amsterdam to Bali sunrises. 

Cameron Butler, sometime Berlin based, other times Melbourne based, has signed with ORiGiN.

Recent new works include collaborations with Ron Peno and the ensemble Blood Red Bird.

Cameron has also recently completed composing his Film & TV Musique (Vol. 2) collection. 


Google has just used Parov Stelar's track 'Booty Swing' for their Google App advertisement.

The single is off Parov Stelar's 2012 album 'The Princess'. 'The Princess' shakes and shuffles into the scene with Parov’s trademark genre-bending blend of vintage swing and contemporary beats.

Bag Raiders, Damn Moroda

Progressive electronic producers Damn Moroda have again teamed with Daniel Johns on Daniel's inventive new single 'We Are Golden’. Co-written and co-produced by Damn Moroda, 'We Are Golden' has been used as the soundtrack to an innovative new Daniel Johns/David Jones collaboration titled 'Styled By Sound'.

Gold-selling Brisbane based rock band Dead Letter Circus have announced their much anticipated third album Aesthesis will land in stores and online on August 14. The band has seen their last two LP's debut at #2 on the ARIA charts and #1 on the Australian artist chart.

Avantgarde electro twins Cosmo's Midnight have had an epic 12 months, they remixed the likes of AlunaGeorge, toured nationally on the sold-out Porter Robinson bill and recently wrapped a memorable Splendour in the Grass appearance. After signing a worldwide record deal with Sony Music, Cosmo's Midnight have unveiled their debut major label single 'Walk With Me' featuring the distinctive vocals of talented Perth singer Kučka.

Revered electronic duo Bag Raiders have returned with the infectious new jam 'Waterfalls'. Recalling the spirit of their 2010 debut album, Waterfalls also showcases how much Chris Stracey and Jack Glass have developed their songwriting craft since relocating to Los Angeles.

‘Waterfalls’ has already hit the Hype Machine Top 10 and is being played regularly on Triple J.


Wirripang has just completed a very successful week at the Australian Piano Pedagogy Conference held in Melbourne.  There were a number of Wirripang editors and composers speaking including Jocelyn Kotchie, Wendy Hiscocks, Joanne Burrows, Amanda Handel and Christina Whiteley all making outstanding presentations of their latest works.

Jeanell Carrigan also presented the piano works of Meta Overman with her usual skill.  Katie Zhukov who launched her outstanding Sight Reading book and Wirripang’s Australia Women Composer’s Piano Anthology. There are 15 composers represented in this book and 12 came to the launch.  Also present was our composer Diana Blom who presented the work of Stuart Greenbaum.  

Wirripang looks forward to being present at Newcastle University when our composer Frank Millward will be present at a concert of his works.
