As of July, gypsy funk duo, Acoustique Juice began their 24-month radio and publicity campaign. The duo will slowly release new and re-mastered singles, EPs and albums aided by the invaluable services of AMRAP’s AirIt. Month by month their 27-song catalogue will be released to radio, followed by the public and will likely grow during the time of the campaign.

With spy thriller ‘I Know Something’ and folk fantasy ‘Desert Paradise’ already on air, Acoustique Juice has a new three track single, ‘Purple Sky’ hitting the radio before its release to the public in early August.

Perth based, ambient-electronic duo BASIC DESIRE has just released two new music videos online. The band consists of Paulina Caine (lead vocalist/lyricist) and Henry Kubik (the composer who also produces the music). Together, they combine electronic sounds with vocals, creating lush ambient landscapes.

The videos for ‘Once Again’ and ‘Come Back (Part Two)’ have recently appeared on YouTube and various other internet music video sites.

They dedicated the single ‘Come Back (Part Two)' to all the soldiers who are currently defending our country and to their families. It talks about the pain of separation and the pointlessness of war.

The second release ‘Once Again’ has a beautiful story behind it. These two songs come from BASIC DESIRE’s upcoming EP, which is due to be released in September 2015.

In an Aussie musical first, Diana May Clark has officially collaborated with Brazilian pop star, poet and politician Chico Cesar. Diana May Clark's new original album The Other Side of the Girl includes just one cover, ‘Mama Africa’. Her English version ‘Mama Africa (People Got to Hear)’ is now an officially published collaboration with the song's composer Chico Cesar, a pop star and musical and cultural legend in Brazil.

Cesar has co-licensed Clark's English lyrics as an official new version, splitting composer royalties with her and his publisher, Miramara Edicoes Musicais Ltd. It’s the first collaboration for Chico Cesar with an Australian artist and the culmination of a few years of musical friendship plus multi-layered negotiations with various levels of the Brazilian music industry. The original was written by Cesar in 1995 and was a hit in Brazil in the mid to late nineties, going worldwide via the Putamayo label.

Clark first met Cesar at WOMADELAIDE in 2005 and was already familiar with his hit song. The English lyrics emerged while Clark was touring Australia with the bossa jazz group Diana Clark and Doug de Vries Trio in 2009. Clark said, "We were in the air en-route to Brisbane when the lyric of the final section came together - the rap is my homage to the Afro influence on popular music everywhere."

Melbourne indie folk quintet The Paper Kites has dropped an endearing video for single one, ‘Electric Indigo’ from the new record twelvefour out August 28, alongside an extensive national twelvefour album tour.

Directed by up and coming filmmaker Matthew Cox and the team at Indimax Productions, the video stars actress Laura Brent (The Chronicles Of Narnia, A Few Best Men) and was set at local Melbourne haunt, Dance or Go, a club known for kicking out patrons who are not dancing.

Having already garnered the full support of triple j and a host of community radio stations around the country, ‘Electric Indigo’ is a glorious taste of what is to come on the new record. Comparable to a warm embrace from an old friend and while exploring a slightly bigger sound for the band, the song is beautifully familiar with intelligent songwriting and exquisite harmonies.

The Paper Kites is made up of Sam Bentley, Christina Lacy, David Powys, Josh Bentley and Sam Rasmussen.

Tickets to the national twelvefour album tour are available now. twelvefour is set for release on August 28.

Melbourne seven piece Sol Nation aptly named their debut full length album ‘Melting Pot’ in homage to the fact their band members hail from varying corners of the globe. And because their infectious rhythmic music reflects that very fact as they craftily and organically have gleaned sounds from their various cultures. Sol Nation are indeed one large melting pot, filled with reggae, a dash of East Timorese folk song, a punch of Cuban salsa, a sprinkle of Latin dance, three parts afro-beat, two parts tropical island rhythm, a sprinkle of Brazilian samba. Fill with funk and stir. Let it settle and taste...and the end result is this high production value album.

Sol Nation have captured a unique and magical chemistry between its band members. Collectively they have created a most exuberant, colourful, intoxicating and well-crafted high-energy album with their debut full length ‘Melting Pot’. Their strong global conscience makes Sol Nation a unique and must-see Australian musical experience. So make sure you catch them as they hit the road to promote the album. Check your gig guides for more details.

Melbourne guitar and drums duo, This Way North, has just released its debut single and clip ‘Pretty Much’ on iTunes and YouTube!

Leisha Jungalwalla (Jungal) and Cat Leahy (Sal Kimber & the Rollin' Wheel, Miss Quincy (CAN), Lisa Miller) crossed paths on the festival circuit in Canada in 2013. Some garage jams back in Australia quickly added up to something worth sharing. Cat brings solid groove-based, left-of-centre drumming, while Leisha sways with swampy slide guitar, slimmed down soul vocals and punchy alt-pop melodies.
The addictively bouncy single ‘Pretty Much’ was recorded with producer Shane O’Mara (Tim Rogers, The Audreys, Lisa Miller) at Yikesville studio in Yarraville and mastered by Sameer Sengupta at Studios 301. This is the first in a series of exciting tracks from that session. The duo’s clip for ‘Pretty Much’ was shot in a Brunswick warehouse by Agostino Soldati.
