Archie Roach tours nationally through November and December celebrating the launch of the 25th Anniversary Edition of his iconic 1990 debut album Charcoal Lane.

Charcoal Lane was co-produced by Steve Connolly and Paul Kelly and rocketed Roach into the national consciousness. The album won Roach two ARIA awards, achieved gold sales, and, unprecedentedly, an international ‘Human Rights Achievement Award’ for the song Took The Children Away. The song was written by Roach about his own experience as a member of the Stolen Generations; he was forcibly removed from his own family and community at a young age.

The 25th anniversary double CD release of Charcoal Lane includes the remastered version of the original album, together with a second disc including 5 acoustic tracks recorded live for triple j’s Live at the Wireless in 1990, and some new recordings of Charcoal Lane material by other artists (including recently released tracks by Briggs & Gurrumul & Dewayne Everettsmith and Emma Donovan & The Putbacks with Archie himself).

John Flanagan releases a brand new video for the first single Whatever Makes You Happy from forthcoming album There’s Another Way to Where You’re Going. The track, about surviving the end of a relationship with an open heart, comes to life in this music video which captures the ups and downs of a relationship and the spirit of beginning again. Director Adrian Brown was inspired by the energy and emotion of the song and based the film around the concept of the camera as the ‘observing self’ of the lead male character, which the characters interact with as an entity. Actors Jeremy Hopkins and Rowena Wise – well known Melbourne musicians in their own right – display an on screen chemistry and offer a glimmer of ‘the private space’, making for an engaging and voyeuristic journey through the story of the song.

The single was co-written with NSW based musician Timothy James Bowen and recorded in Nashville with Viktor Krauss, combining John’s signature 70s folk singer/songwriter influences with a contemporary Americana sound. Featuring vocal harmonies from alt-country songstress Brooke Russell, the track hits the ground running with a driving Nashville rhythm section and atmospheric piano and electric guitar lines.

Flanagan’s new video Whatever Makes You Happy is out now. The new album There’s Another Way to Where You’re Going is out in Feb 2016.

What to do when two musicians find their musical match?

For Scott Leishman and Anne-Lise Larsen of the vocal/guitar jazz duo LL, the answer was to capture the moment by putting their musical chemistry to disc. LL have just released their first album as a duo, titled Yes, let’s.….

It was their individual lifelong passion for jazz and the American songbook which initially brought Anne-Lise and Scott together as LL, an offshoot of the original band Machiniso. After a number of years playing together at notable Sydney venues, it became apparent to the duo that there was a continuing and deepening musical affinity.

Yes, let’s… is a collection of LL’s favourite gigging material and two co-written original songs. The title of LL’s new twelve track album arose from a regular remark at rehearsals. Scott would ask “Shall we?” to which Anne-Lise would reply “Yes, let’s!”. It’s also a cheeky nod to the sometimes racy lyrical undertones found in jazz standards such as Body and Soul.

With a selection of songs spanning 90 years, Yes, let’s… visits the the origins of jazz through to LL’s current songwriting partnership. The pair’s original song Impossibly You tributes the great lyricists of the jazz age.

It is LL's intention with Yes, let's... to bring tangible jazz to music lovers around the world.

Robert Nash is a soulful, Sydney-based independent singer/songwriter, who writes songs that are confessional and autobiographical in nature.

His debut album The Ghost of Your Old Love, to be released on January 22, was self-produced and recorded with Robert playing acoustic, electric and bass guitar, keys, mandolin and percussion.

The album features collaborations with artists from across the globe - strings recorded in St. Petersburg, horns recorded in London, and drums recorded in Los Angeles. This international element is a fitting accompaniment to an album focusing on the highly universal themes of love and loss.

Having just returned from a huge 40-date tour in the US, spirited Melbourne singer songwriter, Shelley Segal has announced the release of her new single, Background Noises.  The flirtatious storyteller is hitting the road for a string of national dates which kicked off in Perth in November, then home to Melbourne to complete the tour at Shelley’s regular Collins Square residency on December 18.

Lifted from her Strange Feeling EP (released May 2015), Background Noises is a blissfully lush and layered song, full of strings, keys and horns.  Background Noises shows a more vulnerable and delicate side to the prolific and often opinionated singer songwriter. It was written after the divorce of close friends and tries to imagine the situation from their perspective.

Shot and directed by Vince Lamberti (Bus Stop: Best Short Film 2011 Fist Full of Films Festival), the video clip is a visual expression of the song.

An engaged and passionate touring artist, Shelley is eager to be back in Australia and share her recent experiences on stage with her local fans.

Off the back of the LA album release for his Top 10 ARIA album, Cast of Yesterday, alt folk rock musician, Tim Wheatley is excited to return to Australia to promote his second single, The Heathen alongside a run of shows up the east coast.

With a driving groove juxtaposed by Wheatley’s distinct smooth vocals and tasteful, bluesy harmonica, The Heathen offers a glimpse into the world of Tim Wheatley during his early days in LA. The track was recorded with Paul McKercher at Hot House in Melbourne and mixed with Niko Bolas at Capitol Records, Hollywood.

The video for The Heathen was shot in LA by Peter A. Holland and directed by Martin Copping. It stars Helena Vestergaard and Ryan Porter who play Tim’s unholy companions as they trawl the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles.

After receiving such a welcoming response when playing to packed-out venues around Australia in August, Tim is pumped to be heading back home for his east coast tour.  The charismatic and good-humoured Tim laughs as he jests that fans can expect “a few new songs at the shows with the same bad jokes!“
