Friday, 06 Feb 2015

SongHubs, the initiative partnering Australian songwriters with international music creators, has gone to Hollywood. SongHubs creates unique collaboration opportunities between Australian and international songwriters and producers. This year Australian artists have partnered with some of the best songwriters from around the world.

Australian producer M-Phazes joins SongHubs, making it possible for him to attend the 2015 Grammy’s where he is nominated for his work on Eminem’s latest album. M-Phazes knows the benefit of working with others from around the world, “I think the main benefit of SongHubs is the relationships that will be developed, you tend to bond with the people you work with at these writing camps and that’s one of the main reasons I enjoy taking part. SongHubs also allows me to pick the brains of these master songwriters, learn their process and really be thrown in the deep end!“

M-Phazes at the LA SongHubs, " think collaborating with people from all over the world really enriches the whole songwriting experience, it’s almost like people from Europe have a different view to people from LA. The musical influences vary and it allows for a really creative session."

M-Phazes joins other Australian songwriter Nathaniel. He was very excited about the opportunity a program like SongHubs gave him. Nathaniel’s debut single ‘You’ has been on high rotation in Australia and says the SongHubs opportunity couldn’t come at a better time, “SongHubs comes at a very crucial time for my career. There has been some interest in the US after Sony presented my single You, at a major conference. SongHubs allows me to build on that momentum and increase my connections and US writing/productions and collaborations.”

Other attendees include songwriter Joel Chapman, who recently worked on 5 Seconds of Summer’s hit ‘Beside You’, frontman for the Potbelleez, Ilan Kidron who also is the 2014 ASCAP Award Winner for top pop release for Ricky Martin’s ‘Come With Me’ and songwriter Hayley Warner who wrote Reece Mastin’s five-time Platinum single ‘Good Night’. As well as LA based APRA AMCOS songwriters More Mega (Cassie Davis and Sean Ray), the songwriting duo behind the Havana Brown smash-hit ‘We Run the Night’ are also joining the SongHubs experience.
