ALBARE is the nom de guerre of Albert Dadon AM, a virtuoso jazz guitarist – and music entrepreneur - with a strong melodic sense and a wealth of global influences. Endorsed by Gibson Guitars for over 20 years, Albare recording career began with a string of ‘acid jazz’ albums for Festival Records in the early 90s.

Fast forward... His sixth album, Long Way was recorded in 2012 and was his first album produced for the prestigious German jazz label Enja Records and maintained its place on the U.S. national Jazz Week Chart for over eighteen weeks, with his follow up album, The Road Ahead in the charts for 12 weeks.

Having toured in 18 countries in the past two years, he has now released his ninth studio album, Only Human, through his recently launched label, Alfi Records. It features Pablo Bencid and Yunior Terry, Cuban born New York based pianist Axel Tosca Laugart and Luis Quintero on percussion.

ARIA Award nominees, Joe Chindamo and Zoë Black are trailblazers in the new zeitgeist of contemporary classical music.

Their concert performances and previous two CD releases, Re-imaginings and Dido’s Lament (nominated for Best Classical Recording 2014) have met with the highest acclaim from critics and peers.

Joe and Zoë are highlights wherever they perform; they astonish with their bravura and move people to tears with their raw emotion.

They have appeared at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, Port Fairy Spring Festival, Canberra Street Theatre, Melba Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre, Llewellyn Hall, Canberra, Sandgate Music Festival, Peninsula Festival, and launched their latest release, The New Goldberg Variations with a concert in New York at Carnegie Hall.

Featuring Bach's original Goldberg Variations with Joe Chindamo’s newly composed counterpart for violin, this album was described by U.S reviewer Grego Applegate Edwards as “...a must for all Bachaholics, a version which can take its place proudly next to the original. Bravo.”

Neon drenched, eighties inspired electro-pop duo, Nakatomi have announced the release of new single, The Knife alongside a run of show dates hitting Mynt Lounge (Melb) on November 20, The Toff (Melb) on November 22 and Oxford Art Gallery Bar (Syd) on November 26.

Synth-heavy with industrial beats and offering a generous nod to the eighties, “The Knife is about the downward spiral of bad experiences or relationships, but choosing to see some beauty in the fall rather than getting consumed by it,” explains lead vocalist, Emily Smart.

“We had this idea to go with a sci-fi 80s vibe for this clip, so we contacted a great local film director named Aaron Schuppan and set him the challenge to create something inspired by movies such as Blade Runner,” says Smart.  “Thankfully Aaron was just as excited about this idea as we were and proposed that our film clip take the form of a movie trailer for an amazing, lost tech-noir film from the 80s, but something with genuine emotion at its core.  Aaron threw together a crazy script, and our only thought was, if he can pull this off, this is going to be epic!”

Named after Nakatomi Plaza from the Die Hard movie, Cox jokes, “Nakatomi does have a classier meaning in ancient Japanese though, it’s the ancestral name of the greatest clan of classical times, the Fujiwara.”

Nakatomi is made up of Emily Smart on vocals and Hamish Cox on synths.

“Queen of Country Soul” (Rolling Stone) alt-country Australiana songstress Sal Kimber and her band The Rollin’ Wheel are back with a second single Hell and Highwater. Hell and Highwater will be launched in Melbourne on Sat 21 Nov at the Toff In Town, and on Sun 22 Nov at Beechworth Town Hall.

Hell and Highwater shares stories of survival and hope. Based on true events, Kimber sings of a young boy who was rescued from a flood, as well as a young girl and her sister who survive a bush fire passing by the family farm – stories that ring all too true for many communities in Australia ravaged by fire and flood.

With Kimber’s signature storytelling vocal and The Rollin’ Wheel’s layers of keys and guitar held down by the infectious groove provided by drummer Cat Leahy, plus the addition of new talent Ritchie Rose on bass, the new single Hell and Highwater is a second taste of the forthcoming album set for release in Feb 2016. Produced by Shane O’Mara and out through Vitamin Records.

The Troubadour Phil MC has released his debut single “Saturday Morning (Make Love Yeah Not War Baby!)”. The music video tells of a serendipitous meeting where an anti-war protest converges with a ‘Troubadour’ singing a love song. Thus “Saturday Morning (Make Love Yeah Not War Baby!)” is born. This convergence of a love song merged with an anti-war protest message also produces a ‘Statement of Belief’ emanating from a deep social conscience of ‘The Troubadour Phil MC’ and a call to action in the words ‘Together we can change the world’.
