UK & Europe Report: February 2016

Monday, 08 Feb 2016

It’s winter in the northern hemisphere, but we warmed up our resident APRA AMCOS representative Adam Townsend with a mug of hot chocolate and some fingerless gloves so he could pen us a little update on the latest in the UK and Europe.

Ministry for the Arts visits London

Before 2015 closed its curtains, we had a wonderful visit from Dr Stephen Arnott and Dr Asha Rajah-Clarke from the Ministry for the Arts in Australia. They took some time out of their busy schedule to visit Tileyard Studios, the home of SongHubs in London, where Tileyard’s Michael Harwood provided a full tour of the facilities.

A productive meeting then took place with Andrew Todd (Deputy High Commissioner to the UK), Sarah Kelly (Manager, Public Affairs) and Rowan Brand (artist manager) to discuss the impact of Australian music in the UK and the importance of London to emerging artists entering the international stage.

Upcoming events

Two events are on the cards in the coming months for London-based members. Our annual ‘Ask the Experts Panel,’ an open forum where industry professionals answer questions from our members. In addition, we’ll host an event for writers working in film and TV who have limited opportunities to network with other writers in their field.

Invites will be sent soon and all updates will be posted via the APRA AMCOS - UK & Europe Facebook page.
