How to get involved in Make Music Day on 21 June

Thursday, 11 Jun 2020

Make Music Day 2020 is just around the corner, and you’re invited to participate in the global celebration of music making taking place on Sunday 21 June. Beginning as the Fete de la Musique in France in 1982, it has now grown into a worldwide event in over 1000 cities across 120 countries.

This year Make Music Day has a dedicated focus on online and digital activities due to the impacts of COVID-19, so while we’d love to be making music with our mates in person, there are heaps of ways and fun activities to get involved with that share the joy of music, including:

  • #livefromhome challenge: Simply film yourself performing your favourite song, post it to social media and tag three other mates to do the same
  • Home School Songs: Livestream a lesson in playing the chords of a favourite song on the guitar, ukulele or piano
  • Pre-recorded content: Submit any videos you’ve made to the Make Music Day Online Gallery of the innovative ways you’ve made music during lockdown
  • Check out some of the incredible activities and events being organised online right across Australia and around the world at the Make Music Day Australia website

Don’t forget to use the hashtags #makemusicday and #makemusicoz in your activity!
