EARLY PERFORMANCE REPORT PAYMENTS - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR APRA MEMBERS WHO HAVE PLAYED LIVE BETWEEN JULY 2019 AND APRIL 2020

Following up on the news that we are paying Live Performance Reports royalties early, we've answered some common questions about the early payment.

Contact writer@apra.com.au for any questions. A rep will then be in touch.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. What do I have to do?

No action required to get paid:
If you were paid for your live performances in November 2019 and haven't submitted any reports since 31 July 2019, you do not need to do anything!

We are going to use last year's data (2018-19) for this payment. The reason we are doing this is to prevent the majority of our members from having to suddenly pull together their live performance returns in a very short period of time. It means that we can get money into your pockets as quickly as possible. Please note that the rate per song will probably be a bit lower because of licensee business slowing down due to COVID-19.

2. What do I need to do if I have already submitted Performance Reports since 31 July 2019?

If you’ve been steadily entering your 2020 performances into our system as you’ve performed, THANK YOU! This is the best process under normal circumstances. However, in the current and very unique circumstances, we are still going to use the 2019 data to pay you.

If you were paid in November 2019 and feel that you would have earned around the same amount this year, you do not need to take further action to get paid. You will be paid based on the November 2019 data.

3. What if I played way more gigs this year than last?

Contact writer@apra.com.au urgently if you have played a significantly HIGHER volume of gigs in this most recent period, or if you have a residency somewhere and want to ensure that the volume of your performances is reflected in this payment.

In your email to writer@apra.com.au please include your legal name, or member number, or the email address linked to your membership.

If you have been playing new songs, you must register them as soon as possible and no later than 9 April.

4. I didn't perform or get paid in November 2019, but I've been performing in this period, what should I do?

If you did NOT submit Performance Reports in 2019, but have been playing in the 2020 period, please contact us at writer@apra.com.au to provide your gig info and setlists.

In your email to writer@apra.com.au please include your legal name, or member number, or the email address linked to your membership.

5. I performed gigs in  2017, 2018 and 2019, but I didn't submit Performance Reports. Can I still do this retrospectively and get paid in May?

Yes, you can. But you’ll need to provide evidence - as per usual - to support any claims for 2017 and 2018. Email us at writer@apra.com.au to provide your gig info and setlists.

In your email to writer@apra.com.au please include your legal name, or member number, or the email address linked to your membership.

We're here to help. Send you questions to writer@apra.com.au
We do need all information by 9 April .
